A prestigious new development of 9 linked apartment blocks by the sea at Boscombe has made extensive use of cast stone architectural details and ashlar masonry from UKCSA member Forticrete.
Forticrete’s design and technical teams worked in partnership with HGP Architects and Barratt Homes to integrate a mix of standard and bespoke components into a complex design on irregular terrain.
Regency Ashlar cast stone masonry in a Bathstone shade forms an attractive feature wall to the podium car park and the ground floor of the apartment blocks, along with matching quoins, heads and cills. A bespoke cast stone string course, heads, cills, window surrounds and copings were created in a Portland shade, adding further character to the main apartment elevations. Forticrete also supplied 59,000 concrete roof slates.
Forticrete’s contract manager Steve Goodger said: “Working in partnership with the design and construction team ensured that the complexities of the design were overcome for on time deliveries. Ensuring that the different sized modules worked together was of utmost importance and required careful planning, detailing and scheduling.”
