Regeneration Project, Neath (2012)

Striking cast stone for new homes

An array of cast stone architectural details and ashlar masonry from UKCSA member Edenhall feature prominently on one of the most significant regeneration projects currently underway in Wales.

More than 300 traditionally-styled homes are under construction at Coed Darcy near Neath on the site of a former BP refinery. Developer St Modwen says the project will include schools, retail and leisure facilities as well as houses.

Edenhall’s bespoke cast stone is being used to articulate elevations in brick, stone and rendered finishes. The cast stone details include window heads and cills, distinctive porticos, quoins, corbels, string courses, parapet coping, and curved ashlar walling at ground floor level.

The properties are being developed by St Modwen and its joint venture partner Persimmon. Translated as Darcy’s Woodland, Coed Darcy has breathtaking views over the Gower Penisular and Swansea Bay.
