Morton Palms Office Development, Darlington (2006)

Cast stone for contemporary offices

This contemporary Morton Palms office development in Darlington was designed by architects Red Box Design and completed in 2006. The striking, terracotta-coloured ashlar cast stone masonry was supplied by UKCSA member Forticrete after rainscreen cladding was ruled out on budget.

The ashlar walls were dressed with precast radius units to the entrances and two courses of Pewter Textured masonry to the base. The architects were so impressed with the result that they relocated into one of the units. The contractor was Mentor Construction of Newcastle.
