Cast stone dressings for Westminster hospital conversion
UKCSA member Forticrete was called in to supply over 600 cast stone window surrounds, band courses, copings and ashlar for the conversion of a former hospital on Horseferry Road, Westminster, into apartments.
The existing window openings were not consistent in size, so nearly every surround had to be different. Forticrete's meticulous attention to detail ensured that every window had its own reference and a specially made surround, individually packed on its own special pallet.
The stone was specified by Fareham architects HGP and installed by London specialist sub-contractor David Ball Restoration for main contractor Laing. Forticrete carefully co-ordinated the detailing, manufacture and delivery of the cast stone with the main contractor and sub-contractor.
