Mixed Use Development, Witney (2010)

Cast Stone complements Oxfordshire vernacular

An award-winning development in the thriving Oxfordshire town of Witney has made extensive use of cast stone dressings from UKCSA member Forticrete.

Opened by David Cameron in his own constituency, Marriott’s Walk is a large-scale, town centre development on an 8-acre site comprising retail and leisure space, 140 new homes, a multiplex cinema and Europe’s largest free multi-storey car park.

Forticrete’s products were selected by developer Simons to blend perfectly with the aesthetic of the local built environment. High quality standard and bespoke cast stone dressings were used on a range of elevations - from heads, cills, string courses, porticos and arches on the housing, to heads and copings on the cinema, and a cast stone plinth, heads, cills, arches, mullions and transoms on the car park.

Forticrete worked closely with Simon Development’s own design and construct team on the specification including bespoke options and phased product programming and scheduling. Luke Pickering of Simon Developments said that the project came together thanks to a massive team effort with a great deal of cooperation and collaboration.

The development also features Forticrete’s Shearstone walling stone.
