Standards
It is strongly recommended that you are acquainted with the relevant aspects of the British Standards before commencing a project. UKCSA members can advise with particular reference to cast stone materials and components.
The current specification for cast stone is BS1217: 2008, which superceded the previous version BS1217: 1997 in August 2008.
A key difference between UKCSA members and other manufacturers of cast stone is in the compressive strength of the products. As a result of research carried out by the University of Dundee, UKCSA has produced its own standard the UKCSA Standard with a mix design of 35 MPa which is designed to ensure the strongest and most durable cast stone available.
Other British Standard references are given in the UKCSA Technical Manual
