Although cast stone elements may get dirty, this is unlikely to cause a problem unless the encrustation of dirt is causing decay to the surface, or staining the underlying stone. In these cases, some remedial action may be appropriate.

The same precautions required for cleaning natural stone should be adopted for cast stone.

The phenomenon of efflorescence, or lime bloom, is temporary and will disappear with time as the result of normal weathering.
